If you find yourself salivating at thoughts of trying to scoot a putt past the blades of the spinning wind mill, or swinging with all your might in hopes of smacking a drive far into the night to beat your buddy out of a tall, cool Coca-Cola, you’ll be pleased to know that the City and County of Denver has opened the latest addition to its roster of golfing facilities, Aqua Golf, at W. Florida Ave. and Santa Fe. Dr.
The newly remodeled complex offers the signature driving range (into the lake), as well as two 18-hole miniature golf courses, stone waterfalls, fountains and a large clubhouse. On the range, golfers can aim at any of the six unique targets afloat in Overland Lake, while the miniature courses offer a different challenge on each hole.
The driving range targets were created by local sculptor Conor Patrick Hollis, and recall elements of the history of the site, such as train wheels that teeter like a child’s toy, and iconic water towers that sit cockeyed above the lake’s surface.
Aqua Golf is open 10a.m.-10p.m. daily. Miniature golf costs $7 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. A second round (same or other course) costs $5 for adults and $3 for kids. Driving range buckets cost $5 for 50 balls, $9 for 100, or $12 for 150. For more information, call 720-865-0880.
