Air Travel To Western Colorado

Air travel to Western Colorado is via either Denver International or Grand Junction. Most people fly into Denver, then catch a short hop over the mountains to Grand Junction or one of the other local airports.

United Airlines is the dominant carrier to the regional airports. From Denver, you can make connections to any of the Western Colorado Airports.

During the winter, the small mountain ski towns pay the airline to increase their air service, therefore during the ski season the airports have direct non-stop flights. (Mid-November to Mid-April) These flights are usually from the major ski markets of Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

Denver International Airport DEN KDEN

Denver International Airport is a major international hub and also a regional hub. It has over 1700 flights per day. 16 Major Airlines operate out of Denver, as well as, numerous regional airlines.

America West Express/Mesa Airlines offers daily service from Phoenix. Delta offers daily service from Salt Lake City. Great Lakes Airlines provides daily service to Denver. United Express offers daily flights from Denver.Alegiant Air has two direct flights weekly from Las Vegas.

Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (ASE)

Aspen-Pitkin County Airport is the third busiest airport in the State. Aspen has direct service from many big cities hubs. They have a full-service restaurant and bar, restroom facilities, gift shop, lockers, inside the terminal building. You will have no problem with ground transportation with five car rental agencies and numerous shuttles services. It is only 3 miles into town.

United Express, Northwest Air link and America West operate daily, year-round scheduled service.Sky West Airlines has two flights daily. United Airlines one flight from Chicago and one from San Francisco on the weekends spent receives 150 nonstop and connecting flights fly weekly.

Durango La Plata County Airport (DRO)

It is a major airport for the Four Corners Region. Recently, they have expanded their runway to 9,200 feet. Now, you have a modern jet, as well as, turboprop service from three air carriers. Although there is taxis and shuttle service available, it is best to arrange transportation in advantage. The airport is 15 miles southeast of Durango

United Express offers nine daily flights from Denver.US Airways offers three daily flights from Phoenix.Delta provides three flights daily from Salt Lake City.

Eagle County Airport (EGE)

Eagle County Airport is 30 miles from Vail; it is the closest airport to the ski resort. It operates year-round. The terminal is modern with free wireless internet and all the other amenities most airports have included gift shops, restaurants, ground transportation, and rental car services.

American Airlines offers four daily flights from Dallas/Fort Worth, two from Chicago, and one from Newark, New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. Continental Airlines flies twice daily from Houston and Newark. Delta has daily flights from both Cincinnati and Atlanta. Northwest Airlines flies daily from Minneapolis. United Airlines offers four daily flights from Denver.US Airways provides a daily flight from Philadelphia and Charlotte.

Gunnison-Crested Butte Airport (GUC)

With their newly lengthen runway, the Gunnison-Crested Butte Airport provides jet service to the major hubs of Dallas/Fort Worth and Denver. American Airlines, United, and United Express fly into Gunnison. Alpine Express is the local shuttle service to Crested Butte ski Resort, 28 miles. They provide door-to-door service. If you need supplies, they will even stop at the local grocery or liquor stores for you. You can also rent from Dollar, Hertz, and Avis car rentals.

American Airlines flies daily from Dallas/Fort Worth during the skin season only, with two flights on Saturdays. United Airlines has a flight from Denver daily. United Express is providing four daily flights from Denver this winter.

Montrose Airport (MTJ)

Montrose Airport has daily service to Denver. It is the main gateway to Telluride Mountain Resort despite the fact that Telluride is a 1 1/2 hour shuttle ride away. The airport is served by Alpine Luxury Limo, Alpine Express, Consider It Done Luxury Limo Service, Telluride Express, and Luxe Limo. All have service to Telluride. Car rental Agencies are Dollar, Hertz, National/Alamo, and Thrifty and offsite Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

American Airlines flies from Dallas/Fort Worth.Delta Airlines flies from Salt Lake City daily and Atlanta United Airlines flies from Los Angeles on Saturday. United Express flies from Denver seven days a week.

Steamboat/Hayden Airport (HDN)

The airport is 22 miles west of Steamboat Ski Resort. They have a new terminal with fast curbside check-in. The new building means plus an expanded gate area with increased seating.

American Airlines flies daily from Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth. Continental Airlines flies from Houston and Newark daily.Delta offers daily flights from Atlanta and Salt Lake City. Northwest flies from Minneapolis/St. Paul daily.

United Airlines offers daily flights from Denver. Steamboat is accessible by nonstop air service from eight major U.S. cities on American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, and United Airlines in addition to a one-stop connecting service from more than 150 other domestic and international cities.

Telluride Airport (TEX)

Telluride Regional Airport on Deep Creek Mesa is only seven minutes from town and the village. It is the highest commercial airport in United States at 9,078 feet. American West/US Air flies twice daily from Phoenix. Great Lakes Airlines offers daily flights from Denver.
